Set to take place as a public side programme during the Nuclear Security Summit, international technology festival Border Sessions will be hosting a The Nuclear Security Sessions.

Nuclear discussions

The Nuclear Security Sessions will focus on the same issues as the Nuclear Security Summit and feature varied international perspectives through literature, debates, speakers and artists.

Among other notable speakers will be Eric Schlosser and Joseph Cirincione. Schlosser, a bestselling author and journalist, will be presenting his new book Command and Control: Nuclear Weapons, the Damascus Accident, and the Illusion of Safety, which explores whether it's now possible to deploy nuclear weapons without mutual destruction.

Cirincione will host a lecture on his book Nuclear Nightmares: Securing the World Before It Is Too Late, which surveys the ideas and perceived risks of experts specialising in the issue of nuclear warfare.

Also speaking will be Ben Katchor, a graphic novelist whose work deals with fear, militarism and nationalism, and Piet de Klerk, the Dutch co-ordinator of the Nuclear Security Summit.
